Works with what you already own.
Your monitors, your computers, your phone — and the USB switch you may already have. Three labels, used honestly. Verified means it did its job on a real desk in front of us, and we wrote down what we saw. Works by design means it works by construction — it relies on the same signal we verified — but that exact device hasn't been on our desk. In development means it's built from the same code and checked on every change, but hasn't yet been run on a desk of its own kind. Send us yours working and it joins the list, with credit.
If it has a menu, it almost certainly works.
Deskwire KVM asks your monitor to change input exactly as its own buttons do. Nearly every desktop monitor made since the mid-2000s understands the request, over HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C.
The honest caveats: a few monitors ship with that ability switched off in their menu (turn it on); most TVs ignore it; and a laptop's own built-in screen has no input to switch, though external monitors on a laptop work fine. The 7-day trial with preview mode proves your exact monitors before you pay.
Not sure about yours?
Install the trial and turn on preview mode: the app shows which of your monitors respond, before anything switches. Still unsure? Email [email protected] with the model name and we'll tell you what we know.
Keep the box you have. We follow its button.
Deskwire KVM never talks to your USB switch — it doesn't need to. It notices when your keyboard and mouse arrive at a computer and takes that as the signal. So any simple USB sharing switch, dock, or even plugging in by hand works by construction: press the button, your keyboard and mouse jump, and the screens follow a moment later.
| Device | Status | |
|---|---|---|
| UGREEN USB 3.0 Sharing Switch (30768) | Verified its button press is detected on our own desk and triggers the same switch the phone does | Find it on Amazon |
| Other USB sharing switches | Works by design Deskwire KVM reacts to your keyboard moving, not to the box | Report yours |
| Docks and docking stations | Works by design moving a dock from one computer to another is the same signal | Report yours |
A tip from our own desk: choose your keyboard as the device Deskwire KVM watches for, not a hub or dock. Docks often contain parts with identical names; your keyboard has no twin.
One product. Four platforms. Three honest labels.
| Platform | Status | What you need |
|---|---|---|

| Android | Verified the remote, on real phones and tablets — finds your computers, pairs with a short code, one tap per computer | Android 8.0 or newer. Bluetooth optional. iPhone: not yet. |
| Mac (Apple Silicon) | In development will live in the menu bar; built from the same code and checked on every change, not yet run on a Mac desk | An Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer) on macOS 12 or newer. One small helper, installed once from the Terminal with a step-by-step guide. Intel Macs are not supported. |
